I’m Elizabeth Balch, a California native and international photographer.
I was born in San Diego, grew up in Northern California and now reside in Carlsbad, north county San Diego. I love photography and I love people. And for the past 10 years I have been blessed to do what I love: photograph people. Specializing in international weddings and creative portraits, my desire is for all my clients to see and know their beauty, and with each image capture radiance, emotion, and culture.
I started out working with an amazing photographer in 1998 whom I had admired for several years before finally asking if I could carry her camera bags and learn from. Happily, she said ‘yes’ and I did just that. Soon after, I worked with a journalist who inspired me to look for new angles and perspectives outside of tradition. Working as a freelance photographer for several years, and then starting my own business in 2005 has been a wild and creative journey.
Recently, I found a picture of myself at age five as a flower girl at my aunt’s wedding with a camera in hand, photographing my cousin. It wasn’t until my early 20’s that I realized that this love of photography would take me around the world creating art and meeting amazing people.
In 2010, I fell in love with Italy while attending a photography workshop in Venice so I decided to do life there the next two years. Italy birthed new dreams in me, while teaching me how to live simply and enjoy every moment.
When I’m not indulging in my love for photography you may find me singing, cooking, traveling, running at the beach, drinking tea, or hunting for furniture, fabric or amazing shoes.
